Passport Renewal

For Individuals who:

  • Have their most recent undamaged 10-year US passport,
  • Have a recent passport issued in their current name (when there is a legal name change theΒ original marriage certificate, divorce decree, or legal name change document is included),
  • Have the most recent passport wasΒ  issued in the past 15 years, and you were at least 16 years oldΒ 
  • The most recent ten year passport expired in the last 5 years or is about to expire,
  • Or, your ten-year passport card was issued in the past 15 years.

IMPORTANT: If the passport is damaged/mutilated, you must follow New Passport application procedures and turn in the mutilated passport with a signed statement on how itΒ got mutilated.Β 

I. 1 Adult 10-Year Passport Book or Card

To apply for a 10-year passport book, your ten year passport  must have expired within the last 5 years or is about to expire. The passport must be in good condition and should never have been reported lost or stolen. If you have undergone a legal name change, please inform us and you will also need to send in a certified copy of a legal name change document. 

II. Photo Requirements

One passport photo with a white background, measuring 2Γ—2. Eyeglasses are not permitted in the photo. Make sure you eyeballs are visible in the photo. 

Ensuring that your passport application is not delayed, it is crucial to carefully review the Photo Requirements. Rejected photos are the most common reason for passport processing delays.

III. DS-82 Passport Application Form

Please follow the steps below to complete the form:

  1. Complete the DS-82 form online and download it and print out the last two pages.
  2. Make sure the required 2-D barcode is printed on the top left margin of the first page.
  3. Use two separate pages to print the form (not back to back).
  4. Sign the form in dark black or blue ink with your original signature and date the form.
  5. Hand-written applications will not be accepted, so please avoid writing by hand.
  6. When printing the form, you should discard the instruction pages.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the departure date on the DS-82 matches the departure date on the travel itinerary or travel evidence.

IV. Authorization Letter

Complete one (1) Letter of Authorization with original signature.

IMPORTANT: The Letter of Authorization (LOA) must be filled out and signed by the applicant in black or dark blue ink. The AA will place the LOA inside the Government envelope. The name of the courier company is required by the government and should be printed or written in black pen above where you sign your name.

V. Proof of Departure

Please provide a computer-generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency, a copy of your airline ticket,Β  or a corporate letter if you're traveling for business. The proof of departure should be within 2 weeks, unless you require a visa. In that case, the proof of departure can be within 4 weeks.. We can help you get the itinerary.

VI. US Government Fees

For adults, the payment to the US Department of State is $211.36. You can pay with a Bank Check,a Money Order or a Personal Check that is not a temporary check or a starter check. Make sure to print the name and birthdate of the applicant on the Memo Line of the Money Order or Bank Check. The $211.36 payment includes return Priority MailΒ  Shipping and Tracking to your mailbox at home.

Please Note: If you are using the 2-4 Days Urgent Service in San Francisco, you can only write a $190 Personal Check to the US Department of State if your name and birthdate are printed on the check and match the information on your application. Otherwise, you must use a US Postal Money Order or a Money Gram for $190. No other payment method is allowed. Print your name and birthdate on the Check or Money Order. Passports in San Francisco can be picked up at Will Call and will be shipped with FedEx for $50.00.

VII. Call to Reserve a Courier, Make Payment, and Receive Shipping Address

To make a reservation for your personal  courier at the Passport Agency,  please call (800) 238-6662.

Payment must be made to 48Hour Passport by credit or debit card only. In order to reserve a time slot with the US Passport Agency, please provide your credit card information. Keep in mind that this payment is non-refundable, as the Passport Agency has limited reservations. Payment is required to secure your reservation and guarantee expedited service. It's important to note that eligibility for a passport is determined by the US Passport Agency based on proof of citizenship and compliance with the provided instructions.

How quickly do you need your US Passport?

For urgent processing within 2-4 days (plus shipping time), the cost is $499, plus a $21 credit card processing fee.

For rush processing within 5-15 days (plus shipping time), the cost is $399, plus a $21 credit card processing fee.

For safe processing over 3 weeks (plus shipping time), the cost is $299, plus a $21 credit card processing fee.

Please be aware that processing and shipping times are based on business days. Additionally, the State Department and Government fees are not included in the prices mentioned above.

VIII. FedEx Shipping

Here is the final checklist for what you need to Overnight FedEx:

  1. Passport
  2. One Passport Photo
  3. Signed and Completed DS-82 with a bar code on the top left margin
  4. Travel Evidence
  5. Bank Cashier's Check or Money Order for $211.36 made out to the US Department of State – please print your name and birth date on the Bank Cashier's Check or Money Order
  6. Letter of Authorization – make sure to sign it and write "48Hour Passport" above your signature on the line that says 'enter courier company name'

IMPORTANT: Make sure to use the properly sized FedEx envelope or FedEx box to safely and securely ship your Sealed Government Envelope along with 3 copies.
